Plan to Walk in Fairhaven's July 4th Costume Parade

The Town of Fairhaven Office of Tourism and the Fairhaven Village Militia invite the public to take part in Fairhaven’s annual American History Costume Parade on the morning of Friday, July 4, 2008.

 
Participation in the parade is open to anyone wearing a costume depicting any period of American history from 1620 to modern times or anyone dressed in patriotic style.
 
Local organizations and sports teams and scout troops are welcome to march in costume or in uniform. Military personnel and veterans are invited to march or ride in uniform.
 
Decorated wagons, baby carriages, or floats as well as antique or classic vehicles may be entered in the parade.
 
The parade will begin on Green Street on the east side of Cushman Park at 9:30 a.m. sharp. Line-up time begins after 8:45 a.m. The parade consists of a one-mile march, south on Green Street to Fort Phoenix.
 
At Fort Phoenix there will be a short ceremony followed by the raising of the flag and the singing of our National Anthem. As the flag reaches the top of the mast, a gun salute will be fired by the Fairhaven Village Militia, who will also fire the fort’s five 24-pound Seacoast Defense cannons.
